Having a work-life balance isn’t so easy when you’re an entrepreneur.  Still, you should make time for relationships and a life outside of work.

Here are five tips that can help you find a better balance.

  • Like your job.  If you’re not passionate about your job, you’ll dread getting out of work each morning. If your job drains you, it’s going to be difficult to manage work and leave it there. You don’t have to like ever aspect of your job, but you should enjoy it. 
  • Understand that perfect balance probably won’t happen.  You may have weeks where you have to spend more time at work getting a project done on time. You may never see the perfect schedule where you start work at 9 and get done by 5. But you can remember to schedule times to focus on your hobbies and family. Work-life balance occurs over time, not on one particular day. 
  • Make your health a priority.  Entrepreneurs often ignore their own health to the detriment of their business. You don’t expect your car to run 100 percent if you don’t get regular maintenance. You can’t expect your body to run at peak performance when you don’t eat healthy, put off doctor visits and ignore exercise. 
  • Give yourself an electronic break. Take a walk around the block without your phone. When you can put down your devices for a longer time frame, give yourself permission. 
  • Take time for you.  Your job isn’t the only thing in your life. Do something for yourself every week. Make sure you take time for relationships. The people in your business won’t appreciate you like your friends and family do. Find a mentor to help you work through problems.
